Robert M. Yurglich -- Senior Partner
CPA, senior partner, began his career with one of the three largest international accounting firms in 1972. Prior to forming Spicer Jeffries LLP, he was the managing partner of the Denver office of Spicer & Oppenheim (formerly Oppenheim, Appel, Dixon & Co.), a firm based in New York and London whose national expertise was in securities and commodities. He began working with over-the-counter investment banking, market making and retail brokerage firms in 1980, several of which were self-clearing firms. He continued to work with numerous broker-dealers and as a result began assisting various funds and other investment entities in the mid-1980's. In addition, he has served as an expert witness before the SEC, FINRA (formerly the NASD) and NASDAQ on various issues.
Russell H. Clement -- Partner
CPA, partner, whose experience in the securities industry dates back to 1982 when he joined Spicer & Oppenheim. From that point on, his industry focal point was directed towards securities and commodities. Since that time, he has acquired the specialized expertise in the securities industry, specifically broker-dealers and commodity pools and is well versed in the taxation of commodity transactions. Russ has been instrumental to broker-dealers on an ongoing consulting basis with regard to net capital issues under SEC Rule 15c3-1. In addition, he has served as an expert witness before the FINRA on regulatory issues.
Michael W. Callahan -- Director
CPA, director, has been associated with Spicer Jeffries for over thirteen years. He has acquired in-depth expertise in securities taxation, organizational structure and international taxation of investment partnerships. Mike has been involved in many areas of tax research and planning, including advising broker-dealers and hedge funds, international taxation, multi-state tax planning and compliance and estate and financial planning.
Sean P. Tafaro -- Manager
CPA, manager, provides audit, tax and consulting services to all types of securities companies. During his ten years with Spicer Jeffries LLP, Sean has specialized in providing services to investment companies and partnerships, including domestic and off-shore hedge and commodity funds, mutual funds and private equity funds. In gaining an expertise in this area, Sean is well versed in the unique aspects involved in many types of trading strategies and has advised clients on proper structuring of funds and investment management companies.
Roger Kline -- Supervisor
CPA, audit supervisor, has worked in both industry and in public accounting with thirteen years of experience.  Prior to joining Spicer Jeffries LLP he worked for a national accounting firm and gained significant experience in the financial services as well as other industries.  With Spicer Jeffries LLP, he is involved in the audits of broker-dealers, hedge funds and commodity pools.
David Drakulich -- Supervisor
CPA, supervisor, began his career with Spicer Jeffries in 2003 and concentrates in the audit and assurance area focusing on broker-dealers, commodity pools and hedge funds.  His experience with a wide array of companies and partnerships has allowed him to gain an in-depth knowledge of organizational structure, internal control and operational activities.  With experience extending to other areas of the audit department including public exchange-traded funds, David provides a well-balanced knowledge base on any engagement.
Scott M. Peterson -- Senior
CPA, Master of Taxation, senior, began his career with the largest international accounting firms in 2000.  Prior to joining Spicer Jeffries, Scott gained valuable experience with high-wealth individuals, multi-state Corporations and Partnerships.  Scott provides tax and consulting services to all types of hedge funds and securities companies.  Scott has been associated with Spicer Jeffries for over two years.  He has acquired in-depth expertise in securities taxation, organizational structure and international taxation of investment partnerships.  Throughout Scott's seven-year career, he has been involved in many areas of tax research and planning, including advising broker-dealers and hedge funds, international taxation, multi-state tax planning and compliance and estate and financial planning.
Steve Salter -- Senior
Fund coordinator, prior to joining Spicer Jeffries LLP in 2006, was with one of the largest international accounting firms where he began his career in 2001 and subsequently with another local CPA firm where he obtained valuable experience in the area of partnership taxation.  As the fund coordinator with the firm, he is the point of contact for initial requests, client correspondence and subsequent scheduling of audits and tax return preparation.
Michael A. Calahan (Mac) -- Senior
Senior, began his career in 2003 with a local public accounting firm where he worked extensively with entrepreneurial business owners helping them solve problems in the financial reporting and tax compliance areas.  Mac moved his career to a national trust bank in 2004 to focus on taxation of alternative investment funds and high net worth individuals.  Over the past two years with Spicer Jeffries, Mac has gained an extensive knowledge in securites taxation and provides tax services to domestic and off-shore funds.  Mac has experience in multi-state taxation issues as well as an expertise in tax planning and tax research for corporate, partnership and individual clients.
